Flexibility is Key

Today is January 7, 2019

I am starting the first full week of being in business as a technology mentor, coach, trainer and consultant.  Many people are a little foggy on what exactly our business is about and what we have to offer.

Have you ever needed some help with getting a software module working?  Maybe the module has to do with using Google Docs as more than just a word processor?  Have you ever heard of a HyperDoc and what can I use it for?  Maybe the questions are more along the lines of Excel questions and finally getting that formula to produce accurate information?  How can I get that new inventory module implemented and running smoothly?

Many people, whether it be individuals, teachers, administrators or small business owners have questions on how to make things run smoother when it comes to software and technology.

Solutions take time and energy.  Here is where Becker Blue Quail Solutions comes in.  We take our expertise and energy and use it to help you solve those every day questions or tackle that implementation project that seems daunting.

Getting started can be the hardest part of any of these projects.  The key is to be flexible in embracing technology solutions to every day problems or situations.  Solutions are implemented one (1) idea at a time, one (1) step at a time and making sure that one (1) step is in the right direction.  The pace can be flexible; the solution can be flexible.  Flexible in learning new approaches, becoming more confident in the things you already know and adding one (1) solution at a time will provide lasting results.

Becker Blue Quail Solutions can help with any project, and will be there to support you for the duration.  You do not have to go it alone.

Question:  What strategies have you found to be useful in tackling a problem where you needed a flexible approach?

We would love to hear from you. Together, we will make a great 2019.

Here Goes Something

Today is January 2, 2019 and I am starting a new business.

My passion is to help teachers and small businesses with authentic technology solutions, to improve every day life.

I have so many ideas in my head and feel like I am spinning in circles, trying to figure out where to start.

I have completed the Google Educator Level 1 certification and am studying for the Google Educator Level 2 test.  So many notes, ideas and knowledge I want to share with anyone and everyone.

So, I decided to start my first blog.  During the Google training, it was suggested to use Blogger to have a place to put thoughts, ideas, and use my authentic voice.  Here is my authentic voice, on Day 1 of being in the consulting and training business.  My husband and I have created Becker Blue Quail Solutions.

Why Blue Quail?  Quail are a daily sighting where we live and I adore the way they are community minded, supporting each other, acting as a look-out for danger and encouraging each other to move as a group.  They walk fast, mosey along when they are picking up seeds from the ground and fly when they absolutely have to.

I feel like that is how I approach being a consultant and trainer.  There are many, many seeds of technology advice, best practices, apps and solutions out there.  I want to help others find the seeds that will support them to walk or fly, either personally or in their business.

Knowing where to start can be the hardest, first step.  I would love to hear feedback from you, when you were faced with a similar situation.

I began by talking with my daughter.  She is a university lecture professor, teaching statistics.  We had conversations about what her pain points were and what would make them better?  We came up with 2 areas I could start with.  One, how to better manage project submissions and some video support snippets for using MiniTab in a Citrix environment.

So, my next steps are to search through all my notes, ideas and previous experience and come up with a couple of solutions for the project submission.  My other step will be learning how to do a video for MiniTab and Citrix.

With technology, there is always a new app, solution, product, website or tool.  How do you know what to use and what is the best?  My advice is to just try one you know and see what happens.  Be open to learning new skills, while relying on knowledge you already have.

I will keep posting progress as I work through how to put my energy and passion for helping others into action.

Thank you for all who encourage me and help me grow.  We are just one great group of Blue Quails.

Happy New Year, 2019
